The Committee on Global Accreditation Activities (CGAA) is a standing committee that reports to the Educational Activities Board through the University Resources Committee (URC).

CGAA initiatives are to identify and meet the global accreditation needs in engineering, computing, and technology (ECT) education. CGAA also is tasked to coordinate global accreditation activities on behalf of IEEE, excluding activities conducted through ABET. The committee seeks to develop and provide educational resources about ECT accrediting body development, accreditation procedures, and support and develop position papers on global ECT education and accreditation.

Some of these examples may include the following:

  • Support the maintenance and improvement of education worldwide through the process of accreditation of ECT programs.
  • Use the IEEE global network of volunteers and members to communicate the advantages of establishing international educational standards through accreditation.
  • Acquaint leaders in industry, government, and academia with accreditation and with various accreditation systems around the world.
  • Coordinate and support IEEE participation in the international activities of existing accrediting bodies outside of the US.
  • Provide consultations to international, educational programs.
